All About My Son (2024)
A meeting between a Taiwanese mother and a British gay: he knows her son better than she would have liked it whereas she knows his husband better than he would have liked it.
A proof-of-concept short based on a feature script that I have been working on, the film explores marriage’s meaning, opening up discussions on a practice that is ingrained in human society but its real meaning is rarely examined. It also attempts to “normalize” homosexuality by shifting the focus of a queer film to internal problems inside the gay community.
Co-produced by award-wining OBACURAE in London, All About My Son features moving score by Los-Angeles-based composer Ian Chen. Portland, Oregon-based artist, Zing Chuang, drew the dramatic watercolor in the poster.
The short was an official selection of the 16th LGBT+ Film Festival Poland, in the short film program of Gay Stories.
